Want Your Own Barrel of Bourbon? BarrelPick.com Launches at Kentucky Bourbon Festival
PR Newswire
BARDSTOWN, Ky., Sept. 19, 2026
New platform gives bourbon enthusiasts the ability to buy a full barrel of bourbon, continue aging it and ultimately create their own private single-barrel release.
BARDSTOWN, Ky., Sept. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — BarrelPick.com, a new platform designed to make full-barrel bourbon ownership accessible to individual consumers, officially launched this month during the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown, Kentucky.
The platform allows individuals to purchase an entire barrel of bourbon, keep it aging in Kentucky, follow its development over time and ultimately determine when and how it will be bottled.
Rather than selecting a finished bourbon from a retail shelf, BarrelPick.com gives consumers the opportunity to enter the process years earlier and make decisions traditionally handled by whiskey producers and private barrel programs.
“Most people experience bourbon only after every important decision has already been made,” said Steve Scheidecker, founder of BarrelPick.com. “We wanted to give people the opportunity to experience bourbon from the other side of the barrel. You can choose the whiskey, follow it as it ages and ultimately decide what that barrel becomes.”
Bringing Barrel Ownership Directly to Consumers
BarrelPick.com was created as a dedicated marketplace and management platform for individual barrel ownership.
The company provides access to aged and newly filled barrels from whiskey producers across the United States, with inventory ranging from recently filled bourbon to barrels that have spent more than a decade aging in oak.
After purchasing a barrel, owners can choose to continue aging it or begin the bottling process. Owners can select the proof of the finished whiskey, develop their bottle and label design, and create a private single-barrel release from their bourbon.
Owners also have the option to bottle only a portion of a barrel, beginning with as few as 48 bottles, while allowing the remaining whiskey to continue aging.
BarrelPick.com currently lists more than 1,000 barrels from more than 20 distilleries and producers.
The concept is intended for bourbon enthusiasts as well as families, companies, clubs and organizations looking to create a whiskey tied to a particular person, place or milestone.
“A barrel can spend years developing before it ever reaches a bottle,” Scheidecker said. “Owning one gives you something a bottle never can: time. You get to decide whether to bottle it now, give it another year or continue following it as it changes.”
A Kentucky Home for Every Barrel
A key component of the BarrelPick.com platform is its Kentucky-based storage and bottling infrastructure.
BarrelPick.com has partnered with Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Crestwood, Kentucky, just outside Louisville, to provide storage and bottling services for participating barrels.
Through the platform, owners can track their barrel, view specifications and status, request samples and begin the bottling process when they are ready.
The company also coordinates the compliance and logistics required to move a barrel from acquisition through eventual bottling.
Launching During Bourbon’s Biggest Week
BarrelPick.com made its public debut in conjunction with the 2026 Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown.
The annual festival, held in the Bourbon Capital of the World, brings together bourbon producers, industry leaders and enthusiasts from around the world. Tickets to the 2026 festival sold out for the fifth consecutive year.
BarrelPick.com introduced the platform to festival attendees through its presence on the festival grounds, where guests could taste single-barrel bourbon from the company’s inventory, view examples of customized bottle designs and learn how full-barrel ownership works.
The company also offered limited BarrelPick.com Sample Sets featuring five barrel-strength single-barrel samples pulled directly from inventory.
Ahead of the festival, BarrelPick.com hosted its inaugural Single Barrel Showcase at Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Crestwood. Guests toured the bottling operation, tasted bourbon directly from barrels in the warehouse and received a behind-the-scenes look at the process of taking a single barrel from the rickhouse to a finished private release.
The launch comes as bourbon tourism continues to attract millions of visitors to Kentucky. The Kentucky Distillers’ Association reported that Kentucky Bourbon Trail experiences welcomed approximately 2.7 million visitors in 2025.
From Barrel to Bottle
BarrelPick.com is designed to manage the process from the initial barrel selection through bottling.
Owners can browse available barrels, select a specific barrel, allow it to continue aging, request samples and eventually choose how their bourbon will be bottled.
When the owner decides the barrel is ready, options include barrel-strength bottling or proofing the whiskey to a selected strength. Owners can then create a bottle and label design for their private release.
Unlike an investment offering, BarrelPick.com is designed around ownership and consumption of the physical product. Customers purchase a specific barrel of bourbon with the intention of ultimately having the whiskey bottled for personal use.
“Bourbon has always been about patience, place and the people behind it,” Scheidecker said. “BarrelPick.com gives more people the opportunity to become part of that process instead of simply seeing the finished product.”
